Trinitarian words

I am in the Father and the Father is in me. With these words Jesus tells us two things. In that the Father is in him, that whoever finds him has found the Father. Recall how Philip had asked, saying, Show us the Father; and Jesus replied, he who has seen me has seen the Father. He is the Way; not merely that one must go through him to get to the Father, but that when one has arrived at him one is already with the Father. And I am in the Father, he also says. The Father is fully invested in what Jesus does: in his sacrifice the Father is present and showing forth his love.

A third thing he says in this Gospel (St. John 17) is that his Apostles are also in him and he in them. Here is where the Holy Spirit functions: through their ministry. In this Holy Ministry Christ and his Father are found.  Sermon for midweek of Exaudi is here.
