The testimony of the Holy Ghost

In the beginning, the Spirit moved upon the waters, and God said, Let there be light. See, where the Spirit is, there God speaks. So also, Jesus said the Spirit would testify of him, but that his apostles would also bear witness. This is the same testimony: their testimony is his testimony. The proclamation of the Holy Gospel is the testimony of the Spirit. It is God saying, yet again, Let there be light. For the light of God that shines in our hearts is this, that Christ has given himself into darkness and death, to bring us mercy and salvation. At the rising of the sun on Easter, he made this known to his disciples, and so now in their preaching he makes it known to the world. And thus he separates the light from the darkness, and calls the light good. Come into the light, which is the preaching of Christ, embrace his forgiveness, and live no more according to the darkness of this evil world. Sermon for Exaudi is here.
