The Sending of the Spirit

The Apostles waited as Jesus had told them to do, and so we waited, during the Pentecost Vigil last night. Here's a brief homily on waiting. Today we celebrated the coming of the Spirit, that is, the sending forth of the Holy Apostolic Preachers into all the world. Their message is Christ crucified, who rose from the dead, and gives mercy to his people. For it is written, God said, Let there be light, and there was light. So the light of the Gospel has filled our darkened places, and we rejoice to receive the salvation of our souls. The sermon for Pentecost is here along with the Gospel whose first line was read in several languages.
