The Nativity of St. John the Baptist

See how everything happens just according to the divine plan, even down to the naming of Elizabeth, Zacharias, and John himself. At long last the world  arrives at the threshold of the fullness of time, for in six short months the Messiah himself will be born. So let us take comfort in knowing, when it seems otherwise, that our Lord is utterly in control of everything  that happens to us, forgives our sins for his own name's sake, and brings us his salvation exactly as he said he would.
