Eckardtesian Thought: I think, therefore I write . . .
We call Mary the Mother of God as an affirmation of and testimony to the truth of the Incarnation of our Lord. He is as much the Son of Mary as he is the Son of God. Two natures in one Person we confess, and in this is our eternal salvation found, for this Man, our Brother and Advocate, is also the Creator of all things. And see how he comes to us: in such a small and hidden way, embedded within Mary's womb, and at length crucified for our sins. Such a marvelous disguise. And Mary herself is not chosen to be his mother because of some divinity in her, but because of the fact that she was a lowly, simple, ordinary, humble peasant girl. So let us who are likewise brought low and humbled under God's mighty hand rejoice; for as she is rightly called the Queen of Heaven, so too, we have in her Son gained access to all the heavenly places. Sermon from yesterday, August 15, the Dormition B.V.M.
