The deaf man speaks

Giving speech to the speechless is arguably the greatest kind of healing that Jesus did, for speech is an attribute of God. No beast can speak, but man speaks. Yet since the fall his speech has been twisted and full of lies. Beware of lies, for they are of the devil, and truth is of God. It was God's word that created all things, that brought forth the redemptive sacrifice of Christ on the cross, and  that raises him from the dead, for God cannot lie. It was God's word that sounded forth from Pentecost, when tongues of fire appeared on the apostles' heads and they spoke the Gospel. And it is God's word that drove this faith into your hearts. It is God's word and truth that through Baptism made you Christ's disciples, and it is God's word and truth that brings you today his Body and Blood to eat and drink, giving you an absolute guarantee of your forgiveness and salvation.
