Lord of the Sabbath

The 12th chapter of Matthew finds Jesus telling the Pharisees not only why he is right to work on the Sabbath, but that he is the fulfillment of it. The Son of man, says he, is Lord of the Sabbath. The command to remember the Sabbath Day was not an end in itself. Its true fulfillment is seen in Jesus, whom we must worship according to his Gospel, in Spirit and Truth.
