Judica, the Fifth Sunday in Lent. Passiontide begins

As we follow Jesus the way of the cross, we learn that this is not only how faith sees: like Abraham, believing in the darkness, believing against reason and the gods of our own choosing, but letting God be God. But Jesus' enemies would not do so, wanting a god of glory and gold, and refusing to receive him as he is. This is idolatry and for such thoughts we must repent. For faith receives him as he is, even in suffering and a cross, all the while believing that joy cometh in the morning, in resurrection and life. Even in the trials of a pandemic we must therefore let God be God, and pray that his good will might be done, and know that he works out all things for our good. Sermon for Judica.
