Jesus Stills the Storm

That he could rebuke even the wind and waves and they cease is abundant evidence that this man is the eternal Creator in the flesh. He is one greater than Jonah who also was awakened from sleep in the storm at sea. The disciples knew to call upon Jesus in trouble, so they did (as we do in the Divine Service), but they also cried, "We perish," which earned their own rebuking from Jesus. And so must we learn that when Jesus is with us (in the boat with us) we need never fear, but call upon his name. Sermon for Epiphany IV. The video is here.
