Is Jesus the Coming One?

John the Baptist fulfilled well his role as forerunner and preacher, for he directed his disciples to Jesus. And they were to ask whether he was the Coming One or should they look for another. Either way, they needed the Coming One, for they needed a Savior, as they knew. And Jesus directed them to the signs that were indisputable. So also must the people of God today be directed to the signs that indicate that Jesus is truly the Redeemer we need. The testimony of the Apostles is capped by their clear witness that He is risen from the dead, having given His life for our sins. So let us be confident in Him, as we look forward to His return in glory. Sermon for Advent III.
