Holy Tuesday. Unafraid of admitting shame.

In St. Mark's Passion is the report that the cock crowed twice, and  that Peter's denials continued after the first time. This is likely Peter's own telling, since Mark was reporting Peter's perspective. Thus we find that Peter was unafraid of admitting his own shame, shown here to be even deeper than in the other accounts. This is reminiscent of King David's willingness to make a full confession of his great sin in the 51st Psalm. And also in this Gospel we find Mark's self-reference in the  report of the man who ran away naked. Again, fully unafraid to admit his shame. For these men boasted only in the cross of their Lord Jesus Christ, as also must we. Sermon for Holy Tuesday. The video is here.
